Ways and Means

Hospitality - At each district meeting members donate $7.00 each for lunch which is provided by member clubs.  Each club is assigned to host a meeting or tour to either provide food for a lunch or to bring dessert, beverages and decorate the tables.

Plant Table - Members bring plants, bulbs, cuttings, and white elephant items for fundraising.

Civic Projects

California Native Plants at the Campo de Cahuenga Historic Garden - the district dedicated a Blue Star Memorial Marker at Campo de Cahuenga in North Hollywood on May 29, 2005. California native plants were installed surrounding the maker.  The garden is periodically checked by San Fernando Valley District members.

Youth Activities - District clubs are encouraged to sponsor new youth groups. Several clubs actively participate in the CGCI Smokey Bear/Woodsy Owl Poster Contest and have state, Pacific Region and National Garden Club winners.  Clubs are also sponsoring students who enter the Youth Sculpture, Poetry and Esssay Contests.

Bus Tour - The District organizes a bus tour to a noteable garden in the region each year.  This year's bus tour will be announced later in the garden club year.

Gardens Beautiful - Clubs are encouraged to recognize outstanding residential gardens that can be possible tour destinations for the future.

Horticulture Education Support - the district will focus on supporting local High School horticulture programs by providing volunteers and funds.

Program and Tour Directory - A list of potential speakers, programs and tour is being compiled for use by our clubs. This list is to be updated and maintained with the cooperation of our gardens clubs.
