California Garden Club Projects

Penny Pines: Donations to the Forest Service; 3 plantations were purchased in the 2018-19 club year.
Reforestation/Restoration Program: this is for specific projects separate from Penny Pines.
CGCI President's Project: Ever-growing Scholarships
Project Mission Blue: A five-year partnership with the Golden Gate National Parks
    Conservancy to restore habitat for Mission Blue butterflies.

National Garden Clubs Project:
Natural Disaster USA Fund: Grants awarded to clubs for restoration.

Youth Education
Classroom science lessons and activities provided by our members to
 two elementary schools (Murwood and Rio Vista) serving 5 classrooms

Mission: to bring natural science enrichment programs into local elementary classrooms;
to provide guest presentations, hands-on activities, lessons and materials prepared by club
members. WCGC donates $1000.

Walnut Creek Garden Club Grants
Annual support of activities that relate to Garden Club goals and objectives.

Shadelands Herb Garden
at Walnut Creek Historical Museum.

Members renovate, plant, and care for large raised beds which benefits the community and
local school groups.

The Gardens at Heather Farm (GHF)
Contribution of $200 to the Education Department of GHF for the classes offered to children in
gardening, composting, beneficial insects, and nature plants. This is one of the largest garden
educational programs in the area benefiting over 12,000 children. $100 donated to support the
Horticulture Therapy Program.
