History of the Garden Club

The Tuolumne County  Garden Club (TCGC) was organized on February 23, 1956.  In 2006, TCGC celebrated 50 years by hosting the Valley Lode District Meeting at the Tuolumne City Veterans Hall.  In 2008, the Club purchased a brick for the path to the Jamestown Jail and a brick for the wall at the Mi-Wuk Fire Department.  In 2009, the Club purchased a brick around the flagpole at the new Sonora Veterans Building.  A “Garden Therapy” program was started at Skyline Place, an assisted living facility, in 2009. The Club launched its  own website www.tcgclub.com in January 2010.

The Club is an affiliate of Valley Lode Garden Club, California Garden Club, Inc. and National Garden Club, Inc.  Currently there are 20

5 club members.

Meetings are held at 10:30a.m. every second Thursday of the month from September through June, at the Tuolumne County Senior Center, 480 Greenley Road, Sonora, California 95370.
