Men's Garden Club of Santa Rosa is the home of many Santa Rosa-area women and men who enjoy gardening. Our purpose is to promote fellowship with others interested in plants and gardens regardless of their expertise or skill. We also provide scholarships to students, and promote youth activities. We are affiliated with California Garden Clubs, Inc (CGCI).

Current Happenings:

February Garden Club Meeting
Tuesday January 14th 7:00 PM at the Luther Burbank Art & Garden Center (2050 Yulupa Ave. in Santa Rosa).
Our speaker will be Steve Ehrmann. Steve studied Botany at UC Davis, and took additional courses at SRJC, including a pruning class from Dave Fazzio. Steve has been a member of California Rare Fruit Growers since 2003, and a Master Gardener since 2016. 
The presentation will include the following topics:

  • Bare Root Trees
  • Root Stock Selection
  • Tree Shape Styles
  • Develop Structural Limb Strength
  • Controlling height by balancing dormant and summer pruning
  • Pollination
  • Thinning Fruit
 
Greenhouse Work:
Tuesdays, 9 AM to 12 Noon 
  • Will begin focusing on cleaning the greenhouse, deciding what plants to keep and getting the students in to the greenhouse for some hands work.
  • Picked up some succulents and cactus from Watsonville. We will be putting together planter gardens for the Home Show in March, so if you have any decorative pots (not clay) or know of someone who has some they would like to donate that would be greatly appreciated. Any assistance in putting together gardens would be appreciated.

Educational Opportunity

CGCI Gardening School
Learn about horticulture and the art of gardening

The Gardening Study School is a series of four courses (each one containing six different classes for a total of ten hours of instruction) developed by National Garden Clubs, Inc. (NGC) to stimulate an interest in horticulture and to further the art of gardening.  After successful completion of four courses, a member may be certified and become an accredited "Gardening Consultant." Meetings:

Monthly meetings are normally held at 7:00PM on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at the Luther Burbank Art & Garden Center (2050 Yulupa Ave. in Santa Rosa).
The December meeting is the annual Holiday Potluck.
 
Board meetings are held on the last Tuesday of the month. (No Board Meeting in December)
