OVERVIEW
Landscape design is the planned modification of the land for the use and enjoyment of people. Good designs are the result of the design process, incorporating the principles and elements of design. Landscape design is primarily concerned with the allocation and design of outdoor space; where good solutions provide adequate and well-defined spaces for all of the intended uses.

Landscape Design Consultants Make a Difference

August 2010 Garden Activities

Is your garden ready for the August weather? Are you planning a trip away from your garden this month? I hope that you have someone to oversee the garden to make sure that your plants get adequate watering. Make a list of special things that need to be watered and special requirements that need attention before you leave. Check your automatic equipment to make sure it is in order and functioning properly.

Summer Rose Tips

  • Finger prune those little buds surrounding a center bud so you will have one bloom on each stem – or push off only the center bud to make a spray.
  • Feed with a handful of 20-20-20 or something along that line in midsummer.
  • Water is essential. As the heat increases, more per bush each week. Up to 10 gallons a week! Check on those pots! Keep them moist.
  • Mulch to retain moisture in the soil and keep the top of the soil from drying up.

Success in the Landscape Design Process

Design is as individualistic as the person who does the design. Landscape design combines the elements of art & science to create a functional, aesthetically pleasing design, often acting as a link or an extension of indoor living to the outdoors.

The elements and principles of design are the means through which a designer evaluates the effectiveness and success of a project. The elements and principles act as the tools and guidelines for developing the design.
